About Vijay

I’m the co-founder of VZVC, a venture firm backing founders working on some of humanity’s largest problems, especially at the frontiers of AI and the life sciences.

Previously, I spent a decade as a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, where I founded and led its $3 billion Bio + Health franchise. Before that, I spent two decades as a professor at Stanford across chemistry, structural biology, and computer science.

I created Folding@home, an early distributed-computing project that used volunteered computing power to simulate protein folding at scale, and have authored more than 300 scientific papers. My essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, and Fortune.
